Global Choices is a small, science-driven and innovative international USA 501 c 3 non-profit. We are an all women team of eight, decentralized with our main office in Aspen and a satellite office in London, working on specific risks posed by climate change,


Our primary focus is the polar regions, in particular the Arctic as it is warming 4x to 7x faster than anywhere else on Earth. The consequences of letting this climate stabilizing system collapse are catastrophic, and yet global leaders have been complicit thus far. GC is advancing exciting, innovative solutions to protect the Arctic Sea ice shield in the Central Arctic Ocean (CAO), and to raise the Ice Crisis to the top of the global agenda. Programs are strategic engagements and include innovative legal work, the Arctic Legal Défense Fund; the young women climate leaders’ network, the Arctic Angels, now in 37 countries; the Arctic Ice Force, a public-facing grassroots mobilization; economic studies, and high- level advocacy, all designed to work in synergy to actualize a 10-year Moratorium in the CAO. This Moratorium is a pre-emptive precautionary pause on oil and gas exploitation, deep seabed mining, radioactive waste dumping and other harmful activities.


We work at the local, national and international levels with government representatives, elected officials, and influencers. We have notable patrons, a diverse Advisor Board and a broad range of Partnerships.



Job Title: Social Media Manager

Reports to: Executive Director, works closely with Arctic Angel co-ordinator

Department: Marketing

Location: Remote/Global (Timezones within GMT +/-3 hours preferred)

Hours: Part-time position, 20-28 hours per week


Job Summary

The Social Media Manager at Global Choices is responsible for developing and executing the social media strategy across various platforms, creating compelling content, and fostering meaningful interactions with Global Choices’ audience. The Social Media Manager shapes the brand’s voice, builds meaningful marketing partnerships, secures PR and media features, and contributes to the overall success of Global Choices’ and Arctic Angel’s marketing efforts.


Key Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive social media growth

strategy aligned with Global Choices values and ethics, strategic objectives and target



Content Creation: Create and curate engaging, shareable content (including text,

images, videos, and graphics) that resonates with Global Choices’s audiences

and reinforces brand identity for use on all social media platforms. Advise and

Support GC team with content where requested.


Information Synthesization: Transform complex information about Earth Systems and

Arctic issues into engaging bite-size, digestible content for wide audiences on all social

media platforms.


Platform Management: Manage and maintain Global Choices’ social media profiles on

platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook and assist the team with

effective social media engagement on these platforms.


Website Management: Manage and update Global Choices’ website to reflect current

collaborations, campaigns and news.


Community Engagement: Foster a vibrant online community by responding to

comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and authentic manner.


Audience Growth: Grow and nurture our social media following through organic and

dynamic marketing strategies, including running ad campaigns, partnerships, and

collaborations across all platforms.


Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyse social media performance, providing

regular insights to track progress and make data-driven improvements.


Trend Monitoring: Stay updated on industry trends, social media best practices, and

emerging platforms to keep Global Choices’ strategies current and effective.


Brand Consistency: Ensure that all social media content, partnerships,

communications (internal and external) and marketing materials align with Global

Choices’ brand guidelines, tone, and messaging.


Fostering Partnerships: Develop and foster strategic relationships with media and

partners to strengthen the Global Choices’ brand and trustworthiness.


PR & Media: Secure PR and Media partnerships, features and interviews to highlight the work of the Arctic Angels and Global Choices team and support with writing content.


Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the Global Choices team to identify content

priorities, design content and create campaign assets.


Qualifications & Experience

● Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or similar role.

● In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and trends.

● Good knowledge of the climate justice movement, including issues facing the Arctic and our Ocean and the ability to synthesise this into easily digestible content and copy.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills.

● Experience of diplomatically managing online controversy and challenges.

● Creative mindset and a passion for storytelling with and ability to spot newsworthy

opportunities and capitalize on these.

● Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics.

● Creative design skills and ability to create captivating design using Photoshop, Adobe

Illustrator, Figma or similar.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team and willingness to work flexible hours if needed.

●Exceptional attention to detail and organizationa skills.
