We cannot plant ice
Once it is gone- its gone
We say HANDS OFF!

From the Arctic to the Antarctic Arctic Angels are committed to protecting our Global Commons. As next generation voices of influence we use our networks to collaborate in ensuring policy makers to act with urgency to protect our planet.  Once its gone – its gone!  The ice is melting much faster than scientists expected - we cannot plant ice.

The Polar Icecaps are critical thermostats of the Earth and the poles are warming at an alarming rate. As the ice melts it not only causes sea level rise, threatening coastal cities like Miami and Jakarta and drowning islands like Palau and the Maldives. Carbon emissions also accelerate. As the capacity of ice to reflect heat diminishes, the oceans warm, challenging the entire ocean ecosystems. The habitat of Arctic and Antarctic species like Polar bears, penguins, walruses and whales is severely compromised.

These last pristine landscapes need our protection NOW! There are plans for oil and gas drilling while the rest of the world is calling to keep it in the ground…..crazy. Right now there is seismic blasting, mapping the sea bed for exploitation of minerals in the breeding ground of whales. Russia and China plan to break a shipping channel through the ice. Russia has just towed a nuclear power station into Arctic waters and there are unconfirmed reports of a (failed) nuclear missile test.

What happens here impacts us all
Our Focus: The Global Commons, particular the Arctic & Antartica
Why

We are in a time of great and rapid transition where the Earth's ecosystems and consequently the well-being of all of us is under significant threat. We increasingly recognize that we and all living things are stakeholders in the planet's future.

What we choose now matters. We still have a chance to take remedial and regenerative action but it will require urgent, informed and prioritised choices. The Arctic and Antarctic act as the earth's thermostats and need our immediate protection because of their impact on all ecosystems. Once lost they are gone forever.

Forests, the ‘lungs’ of our planet and our Oceans are key to the interlinked systems on which we depend. We consider these as ‘Global Commons’, superlife support systems that impact societies, economies and the biodiversity of our entire planet.

How

We are building an inter-generational platform of Global Voices that is engaging and impactful to consciously collaborate on protecting our planetary ecosystems.

We believe as Global Citizens we can require our decision makers to listen to what people want and take urgent action to protect these precious Global Commons.
