The global impact the loss of Polar ice will have on the oceans, with the cascading effects of sea-level rise, acidification and loss of a unique ocean biome will be catastrophic. The consequences of further ice loss will affect climate stability and disproportionately impact vulnerable Island States and coastal dwellers. Investing in the protection of the frozen oceans is vital. For the sake of all species, we must raise the ice crisis to the top of the political agenda, demand that world leaders  cut emissions now, and protect what we can with a 10 year Moratorium on exploitation of the Central Arctic Ocean Ice. We can’t plant ice.

Dr Sylvia Earle, world renowned oceanographer, Baroness Patricia Scotland, Secretary General The Commonwealth, Hon Ralph Regenvanu, Minister of Climate Change, Energy and Environment, Government of Vanuatu, Tiago Pitta e Cunha, CEO Oceano Azul Foundation, Pam Pearson, Founder and Director of the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative and high level Ambition on Melting Ice, Xiye Bastida, Arctic Angel and co-founder of Re- Earth Initiative, Inge Relph, Executive Director & Co-founder, GlobalChoices.
